By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, Sept 26: The Burewala police claimed on Wednesday to have recovered a class-IV student, who had been kidnapped for Rs200,000 ransom two days back from Chak No 255/EB in Gagoo police precincts.

Vehari district police officer Malik Tassadaq Hayat told Dawn that Ahsan Zaman was kidnapped when he was on his way home from school at Chak No 255/EB. He said the accused had detained him at a barber shop at Mana Mor Stop and contacted his father Azam on phone, demanding Rs200,000 ransom for his release. The DPO said he formed a police party, headed by the Burewala DSP. On a tip-off, the police raided the shop, recovered Ahsan Zaman and arrested three accused — Siddique, shopkeeper Shafique and Asif. Police have registered a case. It was the second incident of kidnapping during a week in Gagoo police precincts. Earlier, Dr Naeem had been kidnapped for ransom from Thingi area and the Gagoo police recovered him.
