KARACHI: Over 1,000 phones go out of order

KARACHI, Sept 25: More than 1,000 telephones in different areas of Gulshan-i-Iqbal and the adjoining localities went out of order when a PTCL cable sustained damage during the ongoing development work at a section of University Road.

The cable that hooks the telephone lines with the Pak Capital Telephone Exchange was damaged near the old Sabzi Mandi by the labourers working at the site of the development work, according to a PTCL spokesman.

He told Dawn that the labourers were carrying out the work under the supervision of a contractor who had been awarded the contract of rebuilding the Sabzi Mandi section of the road.

He said that the PTCL staff had undertaken the repair work to restore the affected connections and the work was likely to be completed by Wednesday noon.—Staff Reporter
