KARACHI, Sept 23: The national cricket selectors on Sunday were forced to make two changes in the Patron’s XI squad to play South Africa in the warm-up fixture, which starts from Thursday here at the NBP Sports Complex.

Fawad Alam and Yasir Arafat, members of the Pakistan squad at the ongoing Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa, have been withdrawn from the 15-member squad after the selectors learnt that the two all-rounders are not expected to arrive home until the wee hours of Thursday along with the rest of the national squad.

Pakistan play arch-rivals India in Monday’s final at the Wanderers ground in Johannesburg.

Chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed in consultation with fellow selectors Saleem Jaffer and Shafqat Rana, has decided to call up leg-spinner Mansoor Amjad and the slow left-armer Zohaib Khan.

While Mansoor figured in the just ended series between Pakistan ‘A’ and the touring Australia ‘A’, Zohaib, who hails from Peshawar, is yet to play at the first-class level.

The 23-year-old’s only appearances have been in limited-overs cricket. His older brother Shoaib Khan is a regular first-class cricketer.

Revised Patron’s XI squad: Taufiq Umar (captain), Khurram Manzoor, Ahmed Shahzad, Asim Kamal, Babar Naeem, Shahid Yousuf, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicket-keeper), Rizwan Ahmed, Junaid Zia, Adnan Raza, Anwar Ali Khan, Umar Amin, Uzair-ul-Haq, Mansoor Amjad and Zohaib Khan.
