Pakistan ends Asian Table Tennis on dismal note

BEIJING, Sept 23: Pakistan lost the women’s individual competition against Korea in the 18th Asian Table Tennis Championship in Yangzhou on Saturday when Kim Kyungah beat Saadia Falak Sher 11-7, 11-8, 11-7.

Pakistan had sent two players, Saadia Falak Sher and Asim Qureshi, to participate in the mixed-doubles and the men and women’s single events of the championship, but they could not win any of the matches.

Saadia Falak Sher and Asim Qureshi fought hard when playing against the Japanese mixed pair of Oya and Taseiv. Japan won the match 11-9, 11-9, 11-8.

In the men’s individual event, although Asim Qureshi won the first two games 11-4, 11-8 against Thailand’s Sanguansin Phakpoom, he could not maintain his rhythm and conceded defeat in the remaining three games (11-7, 11-9, 11-8).—APP
