Hasan Raza excels with bat and ball

KARACHI, Sept 23: A superb all-round performance by Pakistan reject Hasan Raza guided A.O. CC to a five-wicket victory over Tapal CC in the 22nd Karachi Gymkhana Tapal Trophy Ramazan Cricket Festival at the KG Ground on Sunday.

Batting first, Tapal CC were bowled out for 140 in 19.5 overs with veteran Mahmood Hamid (44 off 31 balls, two fours and one six) and Hanif-ur-Rehman (34 off 20 balls, four fours and two sixes) the leading run-getters.

Hasan excelled with his part-time leg-spin to claim three for 17 in four overs. Hidayatullah bagged two for 12 in three overs.

In reply, A.O. CC achieved victory by making 146 for five in 19.1 overs. Hasan led the way with exactly 50 off 46 deliveries. His fine knock included three fours and one six. Shahid Yousuf also made a vital contribution of 42 off 40 balls with two sixes and one four.

Test leg-spinner Danish Kaneria, back from his stint with Essex in the English County Championship, returned figures of two for 32 in four overs.
