BAHAWALPUR, Sept 23: The engine of a passenger train going from Sammasatta to Bahawalnagar derailed near Abbasnagar on Sunday.

No person was injured in the accident at Sammasatta-Bahawalnagar railway section. Later, a relief train was dispatched from Sammasatta to the scene of the accident.

The Sammasatta-Bahawalnagar railway track is one of the most neglected tracks. Last month, three wagons of a goods train derailed here. No railway official at Sammasatta station was available for comment.

RAIN: Thirty-five millimetres of rain on Sunday played havoc in the city, its suburbs and Ahmedpur East.

Circular Road, Fowara Chowk, Hospital Road and Shahdara and Baghdad colonies submerged because of intermittent rain. The rain caused power fluctuations and the sewerage system in the city collapsed. No loss of life was reported from anywhere.
