Sherpao vows to fight for Pukhtuns’ rights

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Sept 23: The Federal Interior minister and president of his own faction of the Pakistan People’s Party, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, has said that his party has always struggled for the political and constitutional rights of Pukhtuns.

The minister was speaking to a delegation of the representatives of Matta Mughalkhel, Shabqadar, who joined the PPP (S) here on Sunday.

On the occasion, Haji Walayet Khan, Haji Anwar Khan, Haji Wazir Gul, Haji Alam, Haji Mohammad Razzaq, Sherdad Khan and Awal Khan councillor of union council Matta Mughalkhel resigned from the Awami National Party and joined the PPP (S).

Mr Sherpao said his party had always raised its voice for the rights of Pukhtuns.

He welcomed the new comers and hoped that they would work for the well-being of the people in the light of party manifesto.

The minister regretted that the successive governments had ignored the basic problems of Pukhtuns.

Mr Sherpao claimed that Pukhtuns had found an organised platform in the shape of PPP (S) and his party had started a number of development projects in the Pukhtun belt, which would bring prosperity to them. PPP (S) provincial joint secretary Mohammad Ali Mohmand and others briefed him about the problems of the area.
