KARACHI, Sept 23: A woman and her two children were slaughtered by a suspected group of rivals in Saeedabad on late Saturday night, police said on Sunday.
A duty officer at the Saeedabad police station said Ms Hurjo, 45, and her two children — Mohammad Sabir, 9, and Sara Gul, 6 — were killed by the assailants apparently while the victims were asleep in their rented Dawood Goth house.
The assailants used sharp-edged weapons to slit the throats of the victims, police said, adding that the police station received the information about the heinous crime at around 11am on Sunday.
Quoting Juma Khan, the elder son of Hurjo, who was away from the house at the time of the incident, the police said that when he retuned home on Sunday morning, he found his mother, younger brother and sister in a pool of blood in a room of the house.
The police said the family hailing from Quetta had recently arrived in the city following the death of their family head.
The bodies were sent to the Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem, and later handed over to Juma Khan for burial, the police added.
The duty officer said Juma Khan lodged the FIR in which he nominated six persons, describing them as the perpetrators of the crime.
Quoting Juma Khan, the police said the killings were the result of a personal vendetta.
The triple murder sent shockwaves in the neighborhood, creating a sense of fear in the area.
Accident: A man died and seven others were injured when a vehicle overturned on Hub River Road on Sunday morning.
Police said the accident, a result of overspeeding, occurred near Naval Colony.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the police added.
