HYDERABAD, Sept 21: All Parties Democratic Movement workers observed protest day in several districts of interior Sindh on Friday against the proposed re-election of President General Pervez Musharraf, forced exile of PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and for the restoration of democracy in the country.

Protest demonstrations and rallies were held by the affiliated parties where the speakers condemned the proposed re-election of President General Pervez Musharraf and the forced exile of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

In Hyderabad, JI, JUI-F, PML-N, PTI, Awami Tehrik, ANP and STP staged a joint protest outside the press club.

The protesters carried party flags and raised slogans against Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking on the occasion, MMA district president Abdul Waheed Qureshi, AT leader Sajjad Chandio, STP leader Hoat Khan Gadhi, Mohammad Hanif Siddiqui of PML-N, PTI leader Dr Abdul Samad Shaikh, JUI leader Khalid Dhamrah and others said that the country was passing through a very difficult phase and General Pervez Musharraf had trampled over the constitution and destroyed all the institutions of the country.

They said, “Musharraf has failed on all fronts and he should therefore go home”.

They said that it was an irony that despite the decision of the Supreme Court, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had been deported from the country for the second time.

They severely criticised the ban on the entry of PTI chief Imran Khan in to Sindh.

They said that the rulers were implementing American policies as a result of which the country was being destroyed.

They said the Musharraf government had totally failed to control lawlessness, rampant unemployment and hunger. They urged all the parties to continue their struggle from one platform for the removal of Musharraf government.

In Thatta, activists of coalition parties of APDM, MMA, Awami Tehrik, STP, PML-N and others took out a procession.

The protesters after marching through main thoroughfares staged a sit-in outside the press club on National Highway which resulted in suspension of vehicular traffic for over one hour.

Speakers Gul Hassan Kerano, Ismail Gandhro, Wali Jakhro, Ahmed Soomro and others pledged to continue their struggle till the restoration of real democracy in the country.

In Nawabshah, APDM activists took out a rally and staged demonstration outside the local press club.The rally started from PML-N house and after passing on main thoroughfares, culminated at the press club.

The protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans against President Gen Musharraf.

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah (PML-N), Maulana Hizbullah Khoso (MMA), Suroor Ahmed Qureshi (JI) and Qazi Nadeem (TI) said that the present regime has not obeyed the decision of the Supreme Court and should be tried for contempt of court.

In Naushahro Feroze, the activists of PML-N and other parties took out a rally.

Led by district president, Manzoor Mughal, Ghulam Shabbir Lakho, Sikandar Rind, Awami Tehrik leaders Fareed Kalhoro and Waheed Rind, the protester after marching on different roads of the town reached the press club.

They said that the Constitution of Pakistan does not allow General Pervez Musharraf to contest presidential poll.

A rally was also taken out in Moro.

In Mirpurkhas, APDM activists staged demonstration outside press club. Around 20 protesters raised slogans against the government and demanded of the government to allow Nawaz Sharif to return home.

In Jacobabad, A procession, led by Dr A.G. Ansari (MMA), Mohammad Akram Rind (PML-N), Hafiz Mir Mohammad Banglani (JUI), Deedar Lashari (JI) and Nizam Mastoi (STP), was taken out from Shaheed Allah Bux Soomro park.

The protesters staged sit-in at Indus Highway for an hour and later marched on main roads and reached DCO chowk where they again staged sit-in and raised slogans against Gen Pervez Musharraf.
