TAXILA, Sept 21: A drug seller was killed and his body thrown in a deserted place by unknown assailants, here in the jurisdiction of the Hassanabdal police station.

Ali Gohar alias Bhaji, a notorious narcotics seller of the area, had been missing for the last two days.

On Friday, his bullet-riddled body was spotted at a deserted place, near the local cotton mills, by some passers-by. On receiving the information the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the THQ hospital Hassanabdal for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police sources said according to initial investigations, he Gohar had died two days ago, possibly killed by his associates.

The Hassanabdal police have registered a case against unknown assailants and began investigations.

In another case, the Hassanabdal civil judge, Mehar Muhammad Iqbal, ordered the arrest of three truck drivers and impounded their trucks for blocking a public road.

According to details, Shoukat, Faheem and Abid had parked their trucks on the road outside the local flour mills. The road blockade was causing inconvenience to the public in general and motorists in particular.

When the civil judge spotted the vehicles blocking the road, he called the local police and impounded the vehicles and got the drivers arrested, after getting a case registered case against them.

ROBBERS GANG: The local police claimed to have busted a gang of robbers that operated mostly in the areas of Tarnol, Taxila, Wah and Akora Khattak.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Saddar circle Ahmed Hussain Chohan told reporters here on Friday that all the accused were Afghan nationals settled in different towns of the Punjab and NWFP.

According the police, they confessed that they had snatched 10 cellphones, which were also recovered.
