HYDERABAD, Sept 21: Ten students of the Sindh Agriculture University launched 150-hour hunger strike outside the press club here on Friday, demanding removal of Vice- Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh.

Earlier, a large number of students staged a protest demonstration against alleged corruption and maladministration of the university administration.

Atta Vistro and other leaders of the SAU Students Action Committee said that they had been protesting against the university administration for the last 21 days but no one had taken notice of their protest.

They alleged that the vice-chancellor had destroyed the university and the future of some students by getting “supplementary” written on their degrees. They said that the university had increased tuition fee and transport fee without any reason.

MUET: The Mehran University of Engineering and Technology has announced that admissions in the first year Engineering, Architecture and City and Regional Planning for the session 2007-08 (08-Batch) under the regular, self-finance and special schemes which was earlier extended on Sept 20 has now been extended to Sept 25.

Admission forms would only be issued from HBL MUET Booth Jamshoro till Sept 25.

Last date for submission of forms has been extended to Sept 27 only in HBL Mehran University Booth, Jamshoro.

The candidates who have already obtained admission forms from other branches of HBL and failed to deposit within due date in the same branch, may also deposit admission form in HBL, Mehran University Booth ,Jamshoro till 27th Sept.

ADMISSION: Over one dozen students desirous of seeking admission to the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Friday against the admission policy of the LUMHS.
