Centres to help taxpayers file returns

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: Member Tax Reforms Habib Fakhruddin has said that facilitation centres will be established across the country to help the taxpayers in filing tax returns.

He was talking to a delegation of traders led by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) president Nasir Khan on Friday.

The member said that the maximum facilitation shall be provided to the taxpayers because the FBR wanted to expand the tax net.

He said that efforts were being made in this regard as the current year had been marked as the year to broaden the tax base by increasing the number of taxpayers.

He said that the tax burden had already been reduced and shall be further reduced to facilitate the taxpayers, including the new ones. For this purpose, separate desks are being established in all the departments, he added.

The ICCI president said that it was important that the taxpayers in the country should be facilitated so as to encourage more people to pay tax.
