LAHORE, Sept 20: The Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT) has demanded that the government declare Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) a terrorist organisation and impose a ban on its activities.
The case of killings in Karachi on Sept 12 and 13 should be registered against Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Interior Ministry Adviser Wasim Akhtar, IJT office-bearers told a news conference here on Thursday.
IJT’s Lahore Nazim Hafiz Muhammad Hasaan, Punjab University Nazim Muhammad Ayub and Central Information Secretary Hafiz Muhammad Usman said the government had not taken any action against the killers of students, adding that the IJT had been ‘compelled’ to begin the second phase of its protest movement.
They said during the protest movement resolutions would be passed and demonstrations organised against the MQM.
IJT office-bearers said they would hold a protest demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Sept 22 and burn Altaf Husain’s effigies on the occasion. They said the ‘Karachi Bachao all parties conference’ would be held at Hamdard Centre on Sunday. They said IJT would get passed resolutions against MQM in colleges and universities and hold a referendum against it on Sept 24. The ‘Karachi Bachao rally’ would be organised on The Mall on Sept 25, they said.
