RAWALPINDI, Sept 20: A court bailiff here on Wednesday night recovered a 70 years old man from the illegal custody of Civil Lines police after four days of detention and handed him over to his son who had filed the petition for recovery of his father.

When the bailiff Malik Lal visited the Civil Lines police station he found no case registered against Mohabat Khan and his arrest had not been shown even in the daily diary (Roznamcha) of the police station. He got him released and handed him over to his son.

Baseer Khan in his petition said his father Mohabat Khan 70 was unlawfully detained by Civil Line police on September 14. He said SI Malik Ghulam Shabbi along with some police men raided his house and whisked his ailing old father away. He further alleged that police had demanded Rs100,000 for the release of Mohabat Khan.

The judge asked the SHO to be present in the court on September 26 to explain the illegal detention of the old man.

Meanwhile an additional district and sessions judge served notice on deputy director anti-corruption when he failed to explain as to why he had failed to initiate inquiry against a Tehsildar who had demanded bribe and snatched property documents from a persons.

On the last hearing the judge Shaukat Mehmood had asked the anti corruption official to submit his comments in response to a complaint lodged by a man who was denied a Farad by a Patwari and the Tehsildar too refused to listen to the complaint against the Patwari.
