LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 19: Some unidentified armed men kidnapped a driver and a security guard of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and took away their pick-up, near Darra Tang, in the limits of the Lakki police station on Wednesday. Later, they released the driver and the security guard.

Sources said that PAEC officials were busy in conducting a survey in the mountains of Darra Tang while their pick up (A-1255) had been parked on a nearby road.

They said the driver and a security guard, whose names could not be ascertained immediately, were left with the vehicle for security purposes. Soon six unidentified armed men appeared, overpowered both and took them away along with the pick up.

They said the district police and law enforcement agencies’ personnel were put on high alert after the incident. All exit roads were blocked in order to foil the attempt of the armed men to take away the pick up to the tribal belt.

They said that the Tajori police confronted them in the Walai-Sagai area and both opened fire on one another.

They said the armed men hurled two hand grenades on the police party, only one of which exploded. However, none of the policemen was hurt. The armed men escaped in the snatched vehicle.
