International badminton set for November

ISLAMABAD, Sept 19: A 15-nation ranking badminton tournament, the biggest international competition of this sport in the country to date, is planned to be held here at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, tentatively from November 24 to 28.

The World Satellite Ranking Tournament was awarded to the Pakistan Badminton Federation by the World Badminton Federation that is in touch with the Ministry of Sports.

Besides Pakistan, the event will also feature badminton players from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan, South Korea, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

Open to all players belonging to countries affiliated with the World Badminton Federation, the tournament will provide an excellent opportunity to the upcoming players to improve their international rankings.

The tournament is likely to feature all three traditional events — singles, doubles and team matches.—APP
