Abu Dhabi to build F1 circuit

Published September 20, 2007

ABU DHABI, Sept 19: The oil-rich Persian Gulf state of Abu Dhabi has set out to build the perfect Formula One circuit.

And with plenty of money to spend, it’s a good bet it will be one of the best when the city hosts an F1 race in 2009 for the first time.

The $40 billion project on Yas Island will likely remind many F1 fans of the Monaco Grand Prix, with part of the circuit on the streets and lots of space for yachts to get a view of the action from the sea.—Agencies
