‘Australians are down but not out’

JOHANNESBURG, Sept 19: Australian Vice Captain Adam Gilchrist said although his team had failed to post a good total against Pakistan here on Tuesday which resulted in the disappointing loss, the Aussies were ready to bounce back in the Twenty20 World Championship.

“It was not the result we were looking ahead to on Tuesday,” Gilchrist told reporters after his team’s six-wicket loss. “Had we managed an imposing total, things could have been different. But they [Pakistan] are in the right momentum now and are more confident,” he said.

Gilchrist said Umar Gul made the difference in the death overs, bowling a superbly accurate spell to make things difficult for them. “And then, their middle-order did a fine job to take the game from us.”—APP
