SWABI, Sept 19: Price control committees in the district have failed to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers who are looting the consumers during Ramazan.
At the beginning of the Ramazan, the district government and local administration had warned traders against overcharging. The authorities have also been asked to take action against hoarders and profiteers and those violating the government price lists. However, since the Ramazan, no raid has been conducted on any shop.
A survey shows that prices of fruits and vegetables have increased by Rs10 to Rs15 per kg. The prices of flour, poultry, milk, ghee, edible oil, masoor, moong, mash pulse and kabuli chana and black gram have also increased substantially.
