Labourer commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Sept 19: An 18-year-old labourer committed suicide in Saddar Barooni police area on Wednesday.

Police said Naseer Ahmed was at work in an under-construction building when he went into a room and hanged himself with a piece of rope tied to the ceiling. His colleagues later spotted the body hanging from the ceiling.

Police said Naseer had been facing financial difficulties which seemed to be the cause of the suicide.

Meanwhile, a house was looted in Chaklala on Tuesday. Ahmed Hassan told the Airport police that five robbers entered his house and held his family at gunpoint. The culprits snatched cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs1.5 million.

In another incident, some thieves took away cables worth Rs6 million from the local office of Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) in the Airport police area.
