Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, Sept 19: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has warned the contractors to complete construction of flyover in Latifabad and bus terminal at Hala Naka within scheduled period otherwise their contracts would be cancelled.
The nazim expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work while presiding over two separate meetings at his secretariat on Tuesday and directed the consultants and contractors to complete the projects by Dec 30 this year at all costs.
Mr Jamil said that the project ought to have been completed according to schedule by July but it had been completed only 42 per cent. The delay had put people in great difficulties and badly affected the city’s beautification programme.
He said that the district government was spending millions of rupees on big projects like the revamping of water supply and drainage system, infrastructure, beautification, health and education. Some of these projects had already been completed while others were in final stages, he added.
Some technical problems had led to delay in the construction of flyover and some other projects, he said reminding the agencies concerned all the technical problems and hurdles had been removed and the consultants and the contractors had been asked to complete the projects latest by Dec 30.
At another meeting the nazim expressed concern over delay in construction of bus terminal and said that delay had caused monetary losses to the city municipal administration.
He constituted a six-member committee tasked with finding out causes of delay and solving the contractor’s problems, if any. The decision to construct a modern bus terminal on Hala Naka road was taken to control traffic jams in the city and provide modern shopping facilities to people, he said.
