Canada prices down
OTTAWA, Sept 19: Canadian consumer prices fell 0.3pc in August, bringing the inflation rate down to 1.7pc, Statistics Canada said on Wednesday. The inflation rate of 1.7 per cent was the lowest in eight months and much under the 2.2pc increase posted in the previous four months. The August decline was led by lower gasoline prices and, to a lesser extent, drops in prices for vehicle purchases and leases, and vegetables.—AFP
