Acid attacker held after fortnight

MUZAFFARGARH, Sept 18: The Sanawan police arrested on Tuesday a man who threw acid on his wife on Sept 2.

Muhammad Ajmal was wanted in the case of hurting Irshad Bibi through acid attack. The woman’s father got registered a case against Ajmal.

Irshad Bibi was operated upon at the clinic of a non-government organisation in Islamabad. Talking to Dawn on telephone, she said she was recovering after the doctors had given her a new lease of life.

ACCIDENT: Three people were killed and 12 others injured in a road accident near Muzaffargarh on Tuesday.

The accident occurred near Basira Town when a bus driver lost control over it due to high speed and struck against an oncoming truck. Three bus passengers died on the spot and 12 others suffered injuries and were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital and Nishter Hospital, Multan.

Those who died were: Nasreen Bibi, Maqsood Mai and Fayyaz Bibi while the injured included Saira, Kashif, Farhan, Rab Nawaz and Khadim.
