Drive against illegal billboards

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Sept 18: The city district government here on Tuesday started a drive to remove billboards of multinational companies (MNCs) installed along GT Road without obtaining no-objection certificate (NOC) from the administration.

The city district government used to charge taxes from MNCs for installing billboards along GT Road but some companies have installed their billboards without getting any NOC.

Acting on the city district government’s directives, Taxation officials started an operation on Tuesday and removed three big billboards installed illegally and without obtaining any NOC.

Taxation District Officer Jehangir Khan said the city district government had already ordered blacklisting illegal companies and registering criminal cases against them. He said the city district government would earn Rs30 million income from billboards taxation this year.
