PESHAWAR, Sept 18: The Bacha Khan Education Foundation will establish two primary schools, one each in Charsadda and the Mathra locality of Peshawar.
Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan will inaugurate the schools on Sept 20.
The Bacha Khan Education Foundation works under the Bacha Khan Trust. Established five years ago, the trust has been providing free health, education and other services.
ANP sources said the establishing of schools was an attempt to revive the education network which was initiated by the founder of the Khudai Khidmatgaar Tehreek, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, also known as Bacha Khan, in 1930.
Bacha Khan had established 100 schools in the Pukhtun-dominated areas where students were provided free modern and religious education, they said.
ANP provincial general-secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the schools would work independently.
The schools would offer education in line with syllabus of recognised private schools, with English and Pashto as medium and Urdu would be taught as a subject, he said, adding that there would be no politics in the schools and students would be taught true history of Pukhtuns.
Mr Hussain said land and buildings for the schools were donated by party workers or philanthropists.
The ANP leader said the Bacha Khan Trust would look after the affairs of the school and people would be mobilised to arrange uniforms, books etc.
