KARACHI, Sept 18: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing in the murder case of Allama Mufti Ateequr Rehman and his brother Irshad, who were killed in the Preedy police station limits on June 23, 2005.
Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch of ATC-V, who is conducting the trial, fixed Sept 19 for recording depositions of the prosecution witnesses.
Earlier on Sept 15, the court had recorded statements of three police officials, ASIs Nadeem Haider, Shabbir Ahmed and Raja Masood Ahmed, as prosecution witnesses in the case.
An FIR No 315/05 had been registered at the Preedy police station under Sections 302, 324 and 427/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code against the accused Hammad Raza and absconding co-accused Syed Mohammad Askari.
ASI Shabbir was the duty officer when the killing incident occurred.
He had submitted a statement regarding the location of the killing and the post-mortem findings.
He provided the court with the details of the victim’s vehicle, a Suzuki van, and used 9mm cartridge shells found at the scene of the crime.
