SHO held on court directive

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, Sept 17: The Larkana circuit bench of Sindh High Court on Monday remanded the SHO Khairpur Nathan Shah Police station in police custody for his failure to produce Abdul Latif Panhwar who was arrested about fortnight ago.

The division bench, comprising Mr Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Mr Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, summoned the District Police Officer (DPO) Dadu for producing Latif Panhwar on September 20.

The petitioner Ghulam Rasool Panhwar, resident of Khairpur Nathan Shah town, had filed a petition in the court saying that he along with his son was arrested from the house by the police suspecting his son’s involvement in a theft case. But no formal FIR was registered with the police station against his son, the petitioner said.

Police had released the petitioner after keeping him for 10 days in ‘illegal detention’ while his son was yet not released.

The court on September 14 had called the SHO who denied the arrest of the son of the petitioner and sought two days’ time to locate and produce before the court.

When the case came up for hearing on Monday before the division bench, the SHO appeared but without the son of the petitioner.
