UPPER DIR, Sept 17: The unscheduled loadshedding, particularly at the times of aftar and sehr has caused a resenement among the people of the area.
At a protest demonstration, the residents called upon the higher authorities to take action against officials of the Chukiatan grid station for causing inconvenience to the public.
A procession was taken out in protest against the loadshedding.The participants threatened the Wapda officials with dire consequences if they failed to stop unannounced power outages.
They said that power supply to the area was suspended soon after aftar while at sehr too people were left in darkness.
“Are they (Wapda officials) Muslims as they resort to loadshedding at the time of aftar and sehr?” asked the prayer leader of Baba Sahid mosque.
“When I rang up the grid station to know why they have switched off the power, the official gave me a telephone number of Peshawar for knowing the reason.
When I called at that number, I was told that loadshedding before 21:30 hours in Ramazan has been banned,” he said.
On calling back the grid station, they started making pretexts and advised to call Chakdara.
The prayer leader said that they would show patience till the coming Friday but after that people and ulema would took to the streets to protest against the unannounced loadshedding and low-voltage.
