KARACHI, Sept 17: A proclaimed offender, also suspected to be involved in a case of kidnapping of Chinese engineers, was arrested on Monday near the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

An official of the Saddar police said that Wali Dad Jakhrani was arrested by a party of the Kandhkot police.

Saddar SP Tahir Naveed, a retired captain, told Dawn that Jakhrani was wanted in several cases of heinous crimes, including murders and abduction. “He is also suspected to be involved in the kidnapping of some Chinese engineers in the interior of Sindh,” he added.

The Saddar police said that the arrest of the suspect was effected by the Kandhkot police and the local police only assisted the police team, who took away the suspect.
