Court asks SHO to submit report on missing man

RAWALPINDI, Sept 17: Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on Monday directed the RA Bazar Police Station SHO to complete investigation into the disappearance of a person and submit report to LHC within three days.

Special prosecutor general Saleemullah Haq appearing on behalf of the respondents requested the court that before involving other respondents that include Federation through secretary Interior, CPO and DPO Rawalpindi, it should wait for the findings of the SHO probe.

In the last hearing on September 13 the court Judge Justice Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah had sought the response of the respondents in a petition moved by a woman through Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui advocate seeking the whereabouts of her husband who was allegedly picked up by security agencies from outside LHC premises on July 17.

Tanveer Imran, wife of Imran Aziz, resident of Dhoke Syedan Misrial Road stated in her petition that the local police in the company of Elite Force and some persons in civvies raided Imran Aziz’s house on July 8 to arrest Imran a dentist by profession.

In the absence of Imran, police arrested his two younger brothers, ailing Jibran Aziz, 26, and Salman Aziz, 24. They whisked them away with some personal belongings of Imran. The raiding party told the family members of Imran that in order to interrogate Imran Aziz his custody was required and until his arrest his brothers would be kept in police custody.

Earlier Imran Aziz had invoked the jurisdiction of LHC by filing a petition for the recovery of his brothers that was pending with the court. Jibran Aziz was released on July 10, 2007 but the illegal detention and torture aggravated his ailment that led to his death on July 15.

Salman Aziz the other bother of Imran was released on July 17 2007 the day the writ petition was fixed before the court and Imran also appeared in the court.

The RA Bazar SHO categorically stated in the court that Imran Aziz was not required in any case. But the secret agencies arrested Imran from outside the LHC on July 17, the petitioner alleged.

Since his arrests the whereabouts of Imran are not known and she prayed to the court for early recovery of her husband or his production before any court of law if wanted in any case.
