Voo Doo Doll set to bag top honours at KRC today

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Sept 15: Five-year-old bay mare Voo Doo Doll is likely to atone to the earlier losses by picking up the day’s honours when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She has been performing consistently by finishing on the board including three triumphs in the recent past and the declaration of rider Ghulam Shabbir II has made her fancy in the fourth race which has eight runners in fray, barring last minute withdrawls.

Her likely challengers in the five furlong race are Dragon Heart and Khyber. However, three-year-old bay colt Cash Flow has the ability to beat the lot.

A fierce battle between filly Sugar Sweet and colt Inside Story is on card in the earlier race. We prefer the former who is on course for a hat-trick. They are to be followed by Kat Mandu.

Three-year-old bay filly Green Rose whose winning streak was interrupted in the last run looks poised to make amends by dominating the field in the second race.

She faces a tough opposition from mare Smiling Face and colt Shah Pasand in her quest.

If tried, filly NYX should pick up spoils in the opener by overcoming the field. Besides Make Millions and Sher-i-Awan, colt Quince looks a good thing to upset the applecart.

Four-year-old bay colt Captain Cook and chestnut Dr Dre should win their races if allowed to run on merit.

One of the two horses from the stables of Syed Ismail Shah — colt Black Jack or mare Closing Argument — should present the owner with a winner in the concluding race which has the strongest field of 18 runners.
