LAHORE, Sept 15: Bahawlnagar police claimed to have killed an alleged proclaimed offender near Mauza Oadhpur on Friday night in what they called an encounter.

DPO Zafar Bukhari told APP that Donga Bonga police on a routine patrol received information that three armed criminals snatched a motorcycle from one Allah Ditta of Dina Saharan and fled towards Donga Bonga.

The police started chasing the accused, who near Mauza Oadhpur opened fire at them, the DPO claimed. The police retaliated the fire, killing one of the outlaws on the spot while two others managed to escape, he added.

The dead outlaw was later identified as Allah Ditta, son of Khan Mhammad Baloch, a resident of Beerwala, Mandi Ganj.

The police claimed the criminal was wanted in a number of cases of dacoity, dacoity-cum-murder, robbery and kidnap for ransom.

The police also claimed to have recovered the snatched motorcycle and one rifle.
