GUJRANWALA, Sept 14: The police have failed to sent back more than 25 per cent cases to the district public prosecution branch in the stipulated time after removing objections, causing delay in the disposal of cases by courts.
District public prosecutor Chaudhry Fiaz Ahmad Warraich claimed this while talking to Dawn here on Friday.
He said that 4,589 cases, including 284 of murder, 367 of hudood, 375 of narcotics and 72 of terrorism, were sent to the prosecution branch for scrutiny.
Of them, he said 29 cases were forwarded to police in March, 51 in April, 43 in May, 659 in June and 404 in July to remove objections, but the police fell down on the job.
Deputy district public prosecutor Babar Javed Dar said he identified 65 objections of similar nature in these cases, but these were yet not removed.
They alleged that police officers were not taking any interest in completing the chargesheets in the stipulated period.

Carrying banners and placards, they shouted slogans against the government and the MQM leadership.
