NAWABSHAH, Sept 14: Dozens of doctors doing post graduation from the Nawabshah Medical College took a rally out and demonstrated outside the press club on Friday against non-payment of stipend for last four months.
Dr Akbar Khaskheli President PG Action Committee, Dr Syed Kashif Ali, Dr Shabana Karim, Dr Ghulam Qadir, Dr Aziz Ahmed, Dr Nasrullah Leghari and others told reporters that more than 150 post graduate students were performing duties in different wards of the NMC Hospital since long and were covering the shortage of doctors.
They said out of 150 only 40 were being given a stipend of Rs6,200 which too had stopped since last four months.
They said Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minster Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim announced a stipend of Rs8,000 for doctors doing diploma and Rs15,000 for degree candidates.
They said those doing PG diploma from the DUHS Karachi were given laptop but in the NMC they don’t even have the facility of Internet. They said doctors performing duties without stipend were also not given hostel accommodation.
The doctors announced a complete boycott of duties in wards and will continue protest till the solution of their problem.
Growers protest: Grow-ers of Malwah Branch and Jado Minor, Dad Irrigation Division Nawabshah demonstrated opposite the press club against shortage of water and registration of fake cases, here on Friday.
Growers including Nehal Jam Unnar, Dr Abdul Rasheed Khoso, Niaz Ali and others told reporters that there was no water in Malwah Branch and Jado Minor since years.
They said thousands of acres of agricultural land had become barren due to acute water shortage and growers were in economic crisis.
They informed that when growers observed token strike in Qazi Ahmed on Thursday, the Dad Irrigation Officials registered a fake FIR at Qazi Ahmed Police Station and arrested two growers namely Shah Nawaz Khoso and Khamiso Khoso.
They alleged the SDO Irrigation Dad Division of demanding bribe for releasing water to their fields.
They demanded of the Chief Justice of Supreme Court and Sindh High Court to take notice of the injustice to growers.
