JI activists protest Karachi killings

By Our Correspondent

MURREE, Sept 14: Activists of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and its students’ wing, Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT), on Friday protested against the killing of seven people, including four IJT workers, in Karachi the previous night.

A large number of the religious party’s activists rallied on The Mall and chanted slogans against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the government of Prime Minister of Shaukat Aziz.

Talking to the protesters, who later assembled at the GPO Chowk, speakers alleged that the federal government was backing the MQM set-up in its illegal activities.

They held the MQM responsible for the killing of innocent people, claiming that it was the MQM workers who killed innocent political workers on May 12 when Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry visited Karachi.

Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer in Murree city Masood Butt, IJT Nazim Murree Shakir Hussain and others addressed the gathering.
