CBR’s assurance to remove flaws

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 14: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has complained about flaws in the customs administration reforms system, owing to which clearance of iron and steel scrap was being delayed. This was stated by the President of ICCI, Nasir Khan, in a meeting with Member Customs CBR Shahid Rahim Sheikh here on Friday.

He said his department was taking more than a week to clear the single description of iron and steel scrap.

“Sometimes customs officials enhance value without any justification, just to delay the clearance. This also results in

financial losses and causes raw material shortage at production stage,” the ICCI president said.

He suggested to the CBR to make necessary arrangements to solve the problems.

The member customs assured that “care” system would clear all import items within 48 hours.

He said the CBR was implementing business-friendly policies for enhancement of industrial culture.

The member said the iron and steel scrap will be released in 48 hours.
