BD knock WI out of tourney

BANGLADESH sent the West Indies crashing out of the Twenty20 World Cup on Thursday as captain Mohammad Ashraful cracked a whirlwind 61 in 27 balls. As West Indies had lost to South Africa the previous day, Bangladesh and the Proteas will advance to the Super Eight stage.

In another match, Kevin Pietersen’s 79 off 37 balls helped England defeat Zimbabwe by 50 runs.

In Durban, rain washed out India’s opening game against Scotland. —AP
