ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched their first ever ‘Immigration Handbook’ to serve as a handy reference guide and policy manual for immigration staff.

Speaking at its launching ceremony, the director general of FIA, Tariq Parvez, said a lot of hard work had been put into the compilation of the Handbook, which was an outstanding document.

The book will effectively serve as a ready reference on policies for officials, dealing with immigration affairs, he added.

The Handbook has been prepared after an effort of 33 years and is expected to enhance staff proficiency, improve coordination and efficiency of the organization and to assist passengers and others associated with immigration affairs.

The 322-page book is divided into four parts having 14 chapters. Part one gives an overview of and orientation on immigration affairs. There are nine short writeups on important subjects related to immigration, including human trafficking, MRP and travel documents.

Part two has eight chapters on laws and various rules. Sections of Acts and a rule manual on foreign laws, the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking Ordinance and rules related to immigration, have been concisely reproduced.

The applicable section on travel information manual and MoUs that Pakistan has signed with foreign countries are also part of the Handbook.

Part three contains four chapters that list down a comprehensive methodology on the working of immigration classified by check post, zone and headquarters has been elaborated.

The part also lists down addresses and contacts of relevant offices.
