Eight hurt in rain-related incidents

By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, Sept 10: Six mud houses caved in and over eight people sustained injuries in rain-related incidents throughout the district here on Monday.

Reports said a heavy rain lashed the Vehari city and adjoining parts, inundating low-lying areas and suspending power supply.

College town, Muslim town, Danywal, 9-11/WB, Chak no 24/WB, People’s colony and Luddan were the worst-hit areas where more than eight people suffered injuries. Some of them have been identified as Ghulam Nabi, Imran, Sharif of 9-11/WB, Waseem and Nazeer of Thingi colony and Khadim of Machiwal.

The downpour disrupted power supply for about four hours in various parts of the district, especially in Sharqi colony and Machiwal. A number of electricity meters broke down as the same had been fixed on electricity poles outside houses and shops.

When contacted Wapda Xen Ashfaq Ahmed told this correspondent that he did know about any disruption and unscheduled loadshedding.
