Railway workers hold rally

RAWALPINDI, Sept 9: Speakers at a public rally held in the Railway Workers Colony, Dhoke Hassu chowk, on Sunday said the current political confusion in the country was created by the ruling elite which would bring little change for the ordinary people.

Hundreds of railway workers as well as other residents of the area participated in the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, Zahoor Khan of the People’s Rights Movement said the outdated socio-political system was preserved by the dominant social forces led by the military while landed aristocrat, industrialists and the elite acceded to military dominance in return for their share in power.

He said in this equation the role of American imperialism was crucial, as had been proven by its role over the past few weeks in trying to negotiate a new power-sharing arrangement in which its interests were taken care of.

Sardar Saleem of the PPP said it was the working people who were the backbone of a society but yet it was the ruling class that acquired the fruit of labour.
