16 injured as explosive device thrown from car

KARACHI, Sept 6: At least 16 persons were injured, one of them stated to be in a serious condition, in a blast reportedly caused by a firecracker in Malir late on Thursday night.

According to eyewitnesses and the injured, the attack took place at a restaurant located near the Falak Naz Plaza on Sharea Faisal opposite the Jinnah Terminal.

An explosive device was thrown from a passing car. The suspects managed to escape following the incident.

The injured were taken to the Jinnah Hospital in private cars and taxis where they were provided treatment.

The senior police officials of the Zone East were unable to provide details of the explosive device used in the attack.

Till the filing of this report, Shah Faisal Town SP Lt-Commander Maqsood Ahmed was not able to describe the nature of the blast.

FIRE: In another incident, a bogey of the Sindh Express caught fire at the Cantonment railway station before its departure on Thursday night.
