SWABI, Sept 5: Police arrested two alleged smugglers on Wednesday and seized five kilograms of heroin from their possession.

Police said a vehicle was checked at the Shaheed Baba checkpoint and drugs from its secret compartments were seized.

They said the heroin obtained from the NWFP was bound for Punjab via the Tarbela Dam route. Security agencies had tipped-off police about the drugs, they said.

A police officer said the seized drugs was worth Rs3.5 million and the arrested men, Magazullah and Zhair Shah, both hailed from Peshawar.

A case was registered against the accused at the Topi police station.
