GUJRANWALA, Sept 4: A bailiff appointed by the district and sessions court judge has rescued two children from the custody of a landlord.

Zohra Bibi, of Jalalabad in Sheikhupura, moved the Gujranwala district and sessions court judge, pleading that her two sons, Safyan and Irfan, aged nine and 11 years, were detained by Arshad, of Bhuwain in Ahmadnagar. The court asked the bailiff and ordered it to produce the children in the court. The bailiff rescued both brothers and produced them in the court. The landlord also appeared in the court and pleaded that Ashiq Husain, the father of the children, had got Rs250,000 in advance from him for engaging his children as servant at his farm. But the petitioner said she was not aware of any such commitment. The court handed over both children to their mother. The court did not take any action against the landlord as the petitioner did not want so.

STRIKE: Low-paid employees of all government and semi-government departments observed a complete strike in protest against non-acceptance of their demands. All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) divisional president Tahir Mahmood Bhatti and general secretary Muhammad Iqbal Gondal visited various offices to observe the strike.
