Kasuri may lead delegation to UN session

By Qudssia Akhlaque

ISLAMABAD, Sept 2: Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri will most probably lead Pakistan’s delegation at the opening of the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York later this month.

According to informed sources, a decision in this regard has already been taken at the highest level.

Apparently the decision is prompted by preoccupation of the president and the prime minister with the volatile political situation in the country, requiring them to stay home.

The opening of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled for September 18.

The five key issues on the agenda for the session are global climate change, counter-terrorism strategy, financing for development, management reform and the implementation of the millennium development goals.
