Relief for Tarbela Dam victims

Published September 3, 2007

HARIPUR, Sept 2: The NWFP government has exempted people displaced by the Tarbela Dam project, now living in the Khalabat town, from paying water bills.

The provincial government also approved a grant for the Haripur Tehsil Municipal Administration out of the fund meant for weak TMAs.

The grant would be released by the NWFP finance secretary after receiving details of water charges and water connections from the Haripur TMA, said a notification issued here on Saturday.

During his visit to Hairpur on June 13, NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani had announced to waive water charges for the displaced people and allocated funds for development projects of Khalabat, Khanpur and the Haripur city.

JUI-F: Former provincial minister Raja Faisal Zaman Khan of the Jamaat-i-Islami has announced to join the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F).
