Pakistan committed to peace: envoy

NEW DELHI, Sept 2: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik has said Pakistan is committed to serving as an anchor of peace and stability in the region.

Addressing participants of a course at the Indian National Defence College here, he said peace and stability could not be achieved in a vacuum or sustained if it was not based on a solid foundation.

He said Pakistan wanted peaceful resolution of all disputes with India, including that of Jammu and Kashmir.

The envoy said resumption of the dialogue between the two countries had provided an opportunity to address contentious issues.

He said the process had yielded some positive results, but a just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute was essential to achieve the objective.—APP
