KARACHI, Sept 2: The Karachi Race Club (KRC) has constituted a five-member sponsorship committee aimed for generating funds for the uplift of their premises, deputy secretary of the club and a member of the committee, Ali Akbar Shah Rashdi, said on Sunday.
He said plans are afoot to create a polo ground in the centre area of the course besides acquiring a new starting gate and a latest photo-finish camera.
The stable area, which was badly affected during the recent monsoon rains, will also be renovated, he added.
A horse died when the roof of a stable was fallen on it during rains.
The official disclosed that the KRC was also pursuing to get Rs1 million from the Sindh government, which Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim had announced for the club on the occasion of the Independence Day Cup last year.
Other members of the committee are Kamal Farooq, Tauseef Ali Siddiqui, M.R. Hussain and Ali Faisal Farooq.
