KARACHI, Sept 2: Three-year-old bay colt Royal King continued his winning streak when he galloped to a six-length victory over filly Janu Love Inshu to land the day’s honours in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The victory was never in doubt in view of Royal King’s current track record, which envisaged three wins on the trot.

Chestnut Sharp Cat finished nine lengths behind to the secure third place while another chestnut Thanks Naeem completed the frame.

The colt was smartly ridden home by jockey M. Nasir who in the very next race piloted colt Truf Shot home by five lengths to score a back-to-back double. The brace of winners were sent by trainer Mushtaq Ali Khan.

Earlier, rider Ghulam Shabbir II shone in the saddle when he stormed favourites King Of Cool, Gorella and Sahibzadi home to end the day with a splendid treble.

Colt King Of Cool repeated the winning feat, posting a three-and-a-half lengths victory over mare Mixed Blessing. Similarly, another colt Gorella came out with flying colours, edging bay colt Vice Admiral by two lengths. The winners were saddled by S. Ehtisham.

Filly Sahibzadi also impressed with her run outpacing Shah Pasand to make it three-in-a-row.

The first five favourites who obliged punters with their fine performance were tipped by Dawn. The other four races on the card were won by outsiders.

Nine-year-old bay colt Cape Town, who has never been on the board, claimed his maiden win under rider Ashiq Ali while Desperado pulled off a surprise by getting the better of Royal Loyalty by short head in a closely-fought finish.

Colt With Interest and mare Smiling Face claimed honours in the last two races by toppling public fancy horses. Sing Sing, who was the favourite in the eighth race, had to be content with the fourth slot after his run was allegedly interfered whereas Lucky Step Junior injured when he was stumbled in the day’s last event.

The trainer of Smiling Face, Ramzan A, was fined Rs5,000 by the KRC administrator following an objection after the race.
