Two ruling MPAs may switch loyalty

MUZAFFARGARH, Sept 1: Two members of the Punjab Assembly from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) are ‘interested’ in joining the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Nawaz Sharif’s call, a local PML-N leader said on Saturday.

MPAs Mian Imtiaz Aleem Qureshi and Qaswar Langrial, both from Muzaffargarh district, are currently in talks with the PML-N leadership, said PML-N Muzaffargarh General-Secretary Mustafa Khar Junior. It is expected that both the MPs will receive Sharif at Islamabad airport on Sept 10, he added.

Dawn has learnt that Qureshi and Langrial are also bargaining with the PML leadership for a key party office and tickets for National Assembly seats. A source close to them said they were unhappy with the Nawab family’s inclusion in PML.

Langrial said the PML-N had contacted him, but he had yet to take a decision in this regard.

Muzaffargarh Tehsil Naizm Sardar Abad Dogar is also holding talks with the Pakistan People’s Party to join it. PPP leader Mian Muhammad Hussain said he hoped Dogar would join his party soon.
