Protesters scuffle with police

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 1: Three persons, including two policemen were injured when police and protesters clashed on National Highway near Jam Noorullah village, taluka Kandiaro, on Saturday.

According to reports, hundreds of residents of village Atal Shah and nearby areas staged a sit-in on the National Highway and blocked the road to protest against the police for not registering a murder case of a young boy, Sohail Mallah 16.

The boy was working with a truck driver, Nazir Kalhoro. On Saturday Nazir brought the body of Sohail and told his parents that he had died after falling from the truck. Later when they were giving bath to the body, it was found that the boy was strangulated to death.

Relatives of Sohail reached the Kandiaro police station to lodge an FIR but the SHO refused to register the case. They alleged that the Kandiaro police was demanding Rs20,000 to lodge an FIR.

Later, people reached the National Highway and blocked the road suspending all kind of traffic.

Police reached the spot and held talks with the protesters. In the meantime, protesters pelted police with stones, injuring SHO and a head constable.

Police opened fire in which, Sohrab Mallah, uncle of the boy injured.

DPO Irfan Baloch rushed to the spot and assured the protesters to lodge the murder case. Later, the protesters dispersed.

Road OPENED: Zila Nazim Ghulam Rasool Khan Jatoi here on Saturday laid foundation stone of two link roads from Dehat village to Gahi Khan Khokhar and Saindad Jalbani road which would be constructed with a cost of Rs12.2 million and will be completed in six months.

The nazim also inaugurated Urs celebrations at Dargah Mohsin Shah Jilani in village Dehat.
